In this planning, preparation and leadership module you will learn all the aspects of preparing for and managing a descent. To prepare for a descent we should understand the environment we are exploring and the potential risks associated with it.
This module is included in the Canyoning Level 2 course.
This module covers knowledge in geology and hydrology as well as meteorology. Understanding the weather and the effect
it will have on canyon environments is very important and fundamental as a leader or independent canyoneer. We will look
at canyon grading systems, guidebooks, weather and team selection. We also have a great resource for creating a trip
plan and understanding basic navigation.
Knowing what equipment to take on your descent is very important. This module looks in depth into personal and team
equipment, its standards, what to take and how to look after it. This is a great module to start your learning alongside
‘personal movement and safety’. These two modules combined are a great way to start out your canyoning learning.
Amazing set up. Great for all learning types, easy to start and stop and pick up where you left off with constant reminders to cement your understanding. The biggest win for me is how fun it is. I feel so much more confident for my next Canyoning trip (as very much a beginner) and excited to be able to progress in time away from the canyons. [...] I can’t recommend this highly enough!!!

What everybody is saying about our canyoning training courses:
V7 is an excellent educational resource for canyoneers both new and experienced. The team behind the program has a wide array of skills and knowledge from running canyons recreationally, guiding, and instructing all around the world. They've pooled their experience together and have put it into an easy to use, comprehensive format that has the advantage of being updated in perpetuity. This is something I wish I had access to when I was getting started as a canyoneer. Definitely check it out.
There is so. much. content! Its definitely the most comprehensive canyoning (or any outdoor sport for that matter) program I've seen online. It does a great job of addressing all regions - from deserts to rain forests to alpine environments - and I love that it uses universal terms rather than colloquialisms.
It is such a great resource for not only developing canyoning skills and knowledge but it is an amazing library/knowledge bank to pop back in to specific subjects and refine your skills. It has been so well structured and developed with a mix of ebooks and videos; a perfect blend to maintain concentration and enjoyment in learning.
Literally the best learning portal for the adventure industry to date. I own a company, I train my staff in V7. Amazing
Probably the best virtual/non instructor lead learning out there. A variety of photos, videos and written explanations along with recap quizzes and knowledge checks along the way. If you can’t get out and practice, then just log in and learn from the arm chair. I’d recommend this for anyone looking at getting out canyoning but also anyone who ventures outside as it’s great knowledge to have. Well done V7, what a great resource!
